Job Description:

Insurance is a critical part of our business, and the Safety & Insurance Litigation team plays a key role in managing litigation and claims across the U.S. and Canada arising from Uber’s insurance policies. Working closely with insurance partners, outside counsel, and internal teams—from operations to safety—we drive innovation, manage risk, and deliver effective legal solutions. As part of our continued growth, the Uber Legal team is currently seeking a New Suits Processor with experience in insurance defense litigation. This role is based in our Chicago, Illinois office.

Job Responsibility:

  • High volume processing related to case intake including review and triage of correspondence, pleadings and discovery
  • Originate approximately 100+ files per month in our Matter Management System with detailed attention to documenting initial facts, querying for relevant data, calendaring important deadlines and issuing assigned tasks to in-house paralegals and attorneys
  • Collaborate with the in-house Insurance Team to provide proper notice to our insurers
  • Consult and assist attorneys on specific case needs, particularly related to claims and litigation
  • Assist with administrative requests as necessary
  • Analyze, issue spot and escalate inquiries and issues
  • Perform research, fact investigation and preservation functions
  • Support team projects and initiatives
  • Review, categorize, organize, track and update information and legal documents within our matter management system
  • Prioritize and manage a large volume of cases and projects
  • Design, build and deliver engaging presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Respond directly to requests from insurers and other stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1.5 years experience as a paralegal or equivalent experience
  • B.A/B.S. required, paralegal certificate preferred (or as required by local rules)
  • Working knowledge of insurance litigation, including General Liability (GL)
  • Basic understanding of the litigation lifecycle, especially service of process, and insurance defense
  • Technical know-how with at least a beginner level of computer skills, including a working knowledge of Google suite, Excel, Word, Adobe, and other web-based applications
  • Ability to process high volumes of data quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to switch between different types of tasks seamlessly and efficiently throughout the day
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work and communicate across teams in order to determine the most efficient method to complete tasks and deadlines
  • Strong typing skills (speed and accuracy)
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
