Punter Southall Law Limited (“PSL”) is a London-based consultancy-model commercial law firm providing legal services to corporate and commercial clients. PSL is now looking to recruit an experienced New Business Acceptance Manager to join its small Risk & Compliance team. The New Business Acceptance Manager will report to the firm’s Head of Risk & Compliance.
Job Responsibility:
Oversight of PSL’s Business Acceptance procedures, including all aspects of conflict checks, anti-money laundering, anti-bribery and corruption, and sanctions legislation, obtaining client due diligence information and maintenance of the records/details of the clients and their active matters
The identification, analysis and management of compliance risks within the firm, and the development and implementation of appropriate policies, processes and procedures
Conducting matter reviews for PSL Consultants on an ad hoc basis
Analysing changes in regulatory environments and developing recommendations on adapting existing Risk & Compliance programs accordingly
Assisting with liaising with the firm’s regulatory bodies, external Risk & Compliance consultants and conducting investigations when required
Acting as a subject matter expert on regulatory issues impacting the business and providing guidance to the firm on issues of Risk & Compliance
Requirements:
Sound knowledge and understanding of the legal industry and the SRA’s Standards and Regulations, including those relating to conflicts, complaints and transparency
Knowledge and understanding of the AML/CTF regime (including applicable LSAG guidance for the legal sector), UK sanctions legislation and all aspects of PSL’s Business Acceptance procedures
Strong team player, collaborating effectively to support the shared objectives of the Risk & Compliance team
Proven experience in a law firm Risk & Compliance function
Strong business acumen and financial management skills
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrable ability to build and maintain relationships with the firm’s staff, partners and other stakeholders
Experience of working with electronic verification providers and an understanding of False Positives/ongoing Sanctions and PEPs checks
Experience of working with LEAP Practice Management software system or similar (training will be available)
Nice to have:
An International Compliance Association (“ICA”) qualification is preferred
