Complete registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise
CCT in Neurology (or within six months of completion at interview)
Ability to work independently as a consultant neurologist
Strong commitment to patient-centred care, teamwork, and service development
Evidence of participation in clinical audit
Ability to lead and manage a clinical service area
Minimum 1 year of NHS experience

Job Responsibility

Deliver high-quality general neurology services across outpatient and inpatient settings
Provide consultant-led inpatient ward reviews and respond to ward referrals
Deliver outpatient neurology clinics and develop subspecialty clinics aligned to expertise (e.g., epilepsy, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, headache)
Participate in the duty neurologist rota, ensuring dedicated inpatient cover during duty weeks with no scheduled outpatient clinics
Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, including complex neurology, imaging, and subspecialty MDTs
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold patient safety standards
Develop and lead a subspecialist neurology service in line with departmental strategy and population need
Contribute to service redesign, pathway improvement, and quality initiatives
Provide clinical leadership within the multidisciplinary team
Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes

Full GMC registration and licence to practise
On the GMC Specialist Register as a specialist in Neurophysiology, or eligible within the required timeframe
Evidence of the ability to develop effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams
Evidence of working with management and clinical colleagues to improve a service
Experience or evidence of development and commissioning of neurophysiology services
Strong leadership skills and the ability to take responsibility when required
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, relatives, colleagues and staff
Understanding of teamworking, prudent healthcare principles, clinical governance and service improvement
Evidence of teaching and training of postgraduate and/or undergraduate clinical staff
Commitment to continuous improvement, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively under pressure

Job Responsibility

Provide a consultant clinical neurophysiology service for adult and paediatric patients, covering the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of neurological illness
Deliver and support a broad range of neurophysiological investigations, including EEG, ambulatory EEG, video telemetry, EMG, nerve conduction studies and evoked potentials
Work collaboratively with consultant colleagues and the wider multi-professional team, maintaining responsibility for patients under your care and supporting appropriate delegation and staff development
Contribute to the safe, efficient and effective running of the service in line with operational policies, governance frameworks and the wider service plan
Participate in clinical governance, risk management, audit and service improvement
Support delivery of performance targets, including referral-to-treatment times
Provide advice and guidance to referrers and contribute to the development of neurophysiology pathways
Participate in annual appraisal, revalidation, job planning and CPD
Take part in teaching, training and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate staff and trainees
Contribute to research and innovation activity where appropriate within a university-linked environment
