An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Neurologist to join a friendly and expanding neurology service in the South West. This role offers a strong work–life balance, flexibility in scheduling, and the opportunity to develop a subspecialty interest while delivering high-quality general neurology care. The post holder will provide both outpatient and inpatient neurology services, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective, evidence-based patient care.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver a high-quality general neurology service using evidence-based practice
Provide outpatient neurology clinics and inpatient neurology consultation support
Participate in ward-based referrals and advice for acute and chronic neurological conditions
Develop and lead a subspecialty interest that complements service needs
Advise and support medical, nursing, and allied health professionals
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and service development activities
Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training
Engage in clinical audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance activities
Support service planning and pathway development at the local and regional levels
Maintain high standards of clinical documentation and patient safety
Requirements:
Complete GMC registration with a licence to practise
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Neurology or within 6 months of CCT
MRCP (UK) or equivalent
Minimum 1 year NHS experience
Broad training and experience in general neurology
Ability to independently manage acute and chronic neurological conditions
Understanding of clinical governance, audit, and evidence-based practice
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational and leadership abilities
Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing demands
Commitment to continuous professional development
High standards of professionalism are aligned with the GMC Good Medical Practice
Nice to have:
Higher degree (MD, MSc, PhD or equivalent)
Subspecialty expertise within Neurology
Experience developing or leading a specialist neurology service
