Job Responsibility

Participates in department performance improvement activities
Explains and prepares the patient for all procedures
Organizational policies for infection reduction are to be closely followed and maintained
Sets up equipment and room as needed for exam
Keep image quality and image parameters within the ACR guideline
Possesses and utilizes proper sterile technique and isolation procedures when appropriate
Maintain the department stock and order supplies if needed
Maintains competence in assisting during physician supervised procedures with proper sterile preparation of patient access areas, procedure trays and miscellaneous supplies and devices used during the procedure
Maintains professional, clinical, and technical competency to perform radiologic diagnostic imaging procedures incorporating access techniques developed for specific vascular (arterial and venous), spinal, neurological and general chest, abdomen, pelvis and extremity locations
Responsible for completion of mandatory educational assignments as provided by the supervisor, nurse manager or director

Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin
Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required
Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology
Competent in basic radiology positioning and techniques
Knowledge of basic radiation safety and aseptic techniques
Knowledge of anatomy that includes vascular and/or cerebral
Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills
Ability to work independently

Job Responsibility

Competently operates angiographic equipment used to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures
Acts as a scrub assistant on basic interventional and surgical procedures
Monitors patients and alerts staff of life threatening changes in patient status
Applies the defibrillator and performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation when required
Identifies and processes images, assuring that images are of diagnostic quality
Assists clinical engineering staff in evaluating digital equipment
Compares requisitions to physician orders to ensure ordered exam accuracy
Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images
Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies
Enters patient and study information into the radiology information system
