We are seeking a Network Specialist 1 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business Unit. As part of (SES) Strategic Business Unit you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates and maintains electronic security services inclusive of intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, it systems, perimeter defense and command and control systems for federal, local and commercial customers across high-growth markets. This position is in support of the US Air Force Education and Training Center.

Job Responsibility

  • Survey Reports measurement results in actionable form to more senior personnel and management
  • Conducts any surveys, inspections, tours, etc. of client sites, as required
  • Install, configure, and maintain network services, equipment, and devices
  • Work closely with the field engineers to simulate expected system level performance and provide quick feedback on potential improvement
  • Assist senior network engineers to identify and resolve network security issues
  • Support network designs for each SLA classification
  • Supports design documents for small projects and in support of large programs
  • Assists Senior Engineers in preparation of Designs
  • Preparation of Specifications, Perform QA/QC and technical reviews of designs
  • Author test plans
  • Author testing / commissioning procedures
  • Preparation of test reports
  • Commissioning of deployed systems
  • Development of test fixtures and simulation devices
  • Generates standard PITCO plans and procedures
  • Troubleshoot and debugging complex network problems and recommending operational efficiency improvements
  • Preventative maintenance (software/hardware/firmware upgrades) including security updates, performance upgrades and schedule maintenance
  • Originate and submit maintenance plan and provide role back plan
  • Serves as backup for team members during paid time off
  • Perform hardware / software upgrades and replacements on existing systems
  • Requires ability to support 24/7 on-call schedule
  • Documents the crucial working procedures and Troubleshooting of network operations
  • Employs moderate understanding of network administration as related to business operations
  • Assists team members in identifying and resolving basic/moderate Network/Telecom issues
  • Interprets and analyzes results versus established benchmarks and goals
  • Works with project managers to meet expectations for Network tasks
  • Completes project tasks and assignments to meet project deadlines
  • Contributes to own team and closely related teams through quality and accuracy of output
  • Performing research on available technologies and products as needed

Requirements

  • HS Diploma with 6+ years of progressive experience or Associate's Degree with 4+ years of progressive experience
  • Understanding of ITIL concepts
  • Understanding of security issues and implications for network solutions
  • Knowledge of network concepts, technologies, tools and philosophies
  • Knowledge of system development methodology, project management, system architecture and analytical/problem solving skills
  • Strong oral, technical writing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to build productive relationships with team members, clients and other network/system stakeholders
  • Ability to establish working relationships with others outside area of expertise
  • Ability to balance high quality standards with schedule pressures
  • Must be a resourceful, self-starter, flexible, pro-active, solution-oriented, and customer-oriented
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information
  • Ability to obtain a DoD SECRET Clearance is REQUIRED

  • Network system startup, configuration, and calibration

  • Use of basic electrical and machinist hand tools
  • Use of testing, calibration, or industry-specific tools and software
  • Ticketing and monitoring toolsets
  • Knowledge of one or more IT/Network platform, such as: Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, or Arista
