We are seeking a skilled Network Operations & Transmission Monitoring Specialist to support 24x7 network alarm monitoring and carrier co‑ordination within a high-availability telecom environment. This role involves proactive monitoring, incident management, fault troubleshooting, and collaboration with carriers and internal teams to ensure seamless network performance and service continuity.
Job Responsibility
Monitor network alarms continuously using NMS/EMS tools and acknowledge alerts promptly
Raise, manage, and track incident tickets using ticketing platforms such as Remedy
Perform in-depth troubleshooting of network alarms and validate faults using databases, NMS/EMS systems, and network change logs
Assign incidents to relevant resolving teams and follow up to closure
Manage carrier-related tickets, including raising cases and proactively driving updates
Escalate issues as per defined escalation matrix and service requirements
Provide dedicated monitoring support for hyper-care customers
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly proactive checks for network health
Perform basic service impact assessments during incidents
Manage hotline calls and email communications on a 24x7 basis
Perform configuration checks such as channel verification, cross-connects, transponder adjacency, and SNCP protection
Execute basic Ethernet configurations including auto-negotiation, MTU settings, and VCG configurations
Support change management processes, including raising and validating network changes
Requirements
Experienced in network monitoring within a 24x7x365 operational environment
Comfortable working in shifts and adapting to dynamic operational needs
Knowledgeable in transmission technologies such as PDH, SDH, DWDM, SONET, and Ethernet
Familiar with optical networking concepts including OTN and fibre network architecture
Understanding of submarine network systems such as SLTE, PFE, and repeaters
Skilled in analysing transmission-related alarms and resolving technical issues
Hands-on experience with NMS/EMS tools and monitoring platforms
Familiar with OSS tools such as Cramer and Mori
Proficient in working with systems such as Citrix and remote access tools (RDP)
Basic understanding of IP networking concepts
Exposure to testing equipment such as OTDR, RTU, and BERT
Able to remain calm and effective under pressure and time constraints
Demonstrates commitment to quality, service excellence, and collaborative working
Holds a degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (preferred but not essential)
Willing to travel between key sites where required
