We have a 3 year contract opportunity for a Network Engineer that will work mostly remote but some on-site in Sacramento at the Data Center can be required.
Job Responsibility:
Troubleshooting of hardware/software platforms/applications and network core, distribution and access layers
Installation and maintenance of Juniper and Cisco Internetwork Operating Systems
Documentation and evaluation of security practices for Firewall and IPS services
Configuration and trouble-shooting tasks related to the design of encryption, IPSEC and content load balancing services
Project Management of all services performed based on the methodologies described in the Department of Finance Statewide Information Management Manual, industry best practices, and/or the Project Management Institute methodologies
Training and knowledge transfer for CDT on all aspects of the planning and execution of all projects and assignments related to this SOW
Written documentation/procedures of all projects and assignments related to this SOW
Requirements:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience configuring and trouble-shooting Juniper and Cisco routers, switches and firewall
Minimum of three (3) years of experience configuring and trouble-shooting VMwareNSX and its use within the data center context
Minimum of three (3) years of experience configuring and trouble-shooting Fortinet firewall implementations
Experience with Data Center architectural design, network deployment planning and network equipment installation
Experience with advanced network trouble-shooting, architecture and design
Professional experience configuring and trouble-shooting with several open standard routing protocols, such as RIPv2, IS-IS,OSPF, and BGPv4
Installation and maintenance of Cisco Internetwork Operating Systems and Juniper Junos OS
Documentation of network modifications /or troubleshooting process changes
Analysis and design of network alternatives
Experience with wireless, VoIP, QoS and MPLS technologies
Experience in evaluation, deployment and management of managed services
Testing and verification of a conceptual lab capable of supporting MPLS, QoS, encryption, IPSEC, and content load balancing (ACE modules)
Experience leading an installation team
Working knowledge of industry standards and Project Management Institute (PMI)
Nice to have:
Knowledge and understanding of industry trends and best practices in the principles and operations of network architecture and design
Knowledge and practical application of best practices in Project Management as outlined in the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge
Ability to conduct business activities in a professional manner leading to superior customer satisfaction
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision from the Section Supervisor or designee
