We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support operations at a federal academic institution located in Kings Point, New York. This role offers a challenging and rewarding environment where the selected candidate will play a key role in the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure. The Network Engineer will be responsible for supporting secure and reliable network services, troubleshooting complex issues, and maintaining detailed technical documentation while operating within a government-regulated environment.
Job Responsibility:
Design, implement, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, DMZ, and wireless network infrastructures
Configure, test, and support network devices and related services
Identify, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network performance and connectivity issues
Design, plan, deploy, and optimize wireless network solutions
Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, and network access security tools
Support and administer Cisco switches and routers
Manage Aruba wireless and network access control architectures
Support Nutanix Prism and Acropolis hypervisor environments
Administer Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy in a Windows Server and Windows 11 environment
Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for server and network-related issues
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for network systems, applications, and appliances
Utilize PowerShell scripting to automate and improve system and network operations
Ensure compliance with government standards and frameworks, including NIST and FISMA
Collaborate across teams to improve system reliability, efficiency, and overall service quality
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
5–7 years of hands-on experience in a structured enterprise or government network environment
Experience implementing, administering, and maintaining network devices and policies
Strong experience with: Cisco switching and routing
Wireless network design and optimization
Firewall and VPN configuration and management
Network security and access control tools
Windows Server environments and Windows 11
Active Directory and Group Policy Management
Proficiency in PowerShell scripting
Experience working within government environments utilizing NIST and FISMA frameworks
Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and network optimization skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Certifications (Minimum One Required): Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or ITIL v3 Certification
Ability to work on-site in Kings Point, NY as part of a hybrid schedule
Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
