We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join our team, reporting to our Network Solutions Operations Manager. This role will involve meeting client requirements in regards installations and upgrades of network equipment both remotely and in person at client sites throughout Ireland. Due to client requirements, this role will require flexibility in regards hours of work, location and will require on-call rota availability.

Job Responsibility

  • Installation and configuration of network equipment
  • Maintenance of computer networks such as routers, switches, Wi-Fi controllers and other physical hardware
  • Configuring firewalls and updating security systems to protect communications and data
  • Troubleshooting, resolving and communicating networking problems to management and other employees
  • Implementing a disaster recovery process
  • Maintaining present information and understanding networking and security best practices to provide the best protection and solutions for our client’s systems
  • Creating and maintaining network documentation
  • Supporting the managed services teams in troubleshooting incidents within customer environments, including site visits
  • Working with the team to ensure all environments adhere to secure standards and frameworks
  • Contribute to delivering technical excellence with the IT team

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of networking and related protocols
  • Experience working with core networking technologies
  • In depth understanding and knowledge in each of the following: MAC, IP, TCP, UDP, SSL VPN, IPSEC VPN, SNMP, SYSLOG, SSH, Telnet, Wireshark
  • A good understanding of Voice over IP, Wi-Fi networks and standards
  • Candidate must have good understanding of routing protocols with emphasis on (Static routes, OSPF and BGP)
  • A basic knowledge of networking stack on various operating systems (Windows, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V, Chrome OS, Apple OS)
  • Experience working with firewalls and understanding advanced treat protection and how to implement it
  • A good knowledge of HPE Aruba, Fortinet and Cisco product ranges
  • Analytical thinking skill
  • This role requires collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, with communication remotely and in person
  • Ability to work both on own initiative and as part of team
  • Driving Licence required to visit client premises
