Job Description:

Piper Companies is seeking a Network Engineer II to support a leading healthcare services organization through hybrid work in Columbia, MD. This role is ideal for a senior‑level network engineer who enjoys designing, implementing, and supporting complex LAN/WAN and data center networks while serving as a technical expert across project teams.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design, plan, implement, and support large‑enterprise LAN, WAN, and data center network solutions
  • Act as a technical consultant across multiple project teams, supporting architecture decisions and delivery timelines
  • Provide Tier‑3 support for complex network issues using advanced troubleshooting and performance analysis tools
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and implementation plans
  • support evaluation of new technologies and vendors

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience supporting large‑enterprise LAN/WAN and data center environments
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Cisco routing and switching platforms (Catalyst, Nexus, ISR/ASR)
  • Advanced knowledge of BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP, enterprise WAN/Internet circuits, and inter‑data‑center connectivity
  • Experience with enterprise network security technologies (NGFWs, VPNs, SD‑WAN, NAC)
  • Proficiency with SolarWinds, Wireshark, or similar monitoring and packet‑analysis tools

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Cisco Meraki switching and wireless
  • F5 LTM exposure preferred
  • CCNA/CCNP (or higher) preferred
