Job Description

The Network Build Engineer position focuses on designing and deploying networking solutions, combining skills of routing and switching with emerging cloud networking technologies, and utilizing automation and scripting to deliver at scale. The role involves collaboration with Citi businesses and various partners to deliver on network infrastructure connectivity, supporting migrations, addressing system issues, and monitoring network health.

Job Responsibility

  • responsible for design and implementation of enterprise network and cloud connectivity infrastructure
  • perform network environment buildouts, process automation, datacenter setup, maintenance and support, and documentation of operating procedures and processes
  • analyze network activity and problems to discover and prevent systematic errors
  • recommend network design changes/enhancements for improved systems availability and performance
  • work closely with various teams for the migration of resources from on-premise to cloud environments and utilize toolchain, scripts, automation for each stage in the infrastructure deployment
  • monitor, track, report, and proactively address issues taking a holistic view of health and supportability requirements, including documentation, monitoring, logging, high availability configuration, capacity and disaster recovery plans
  • providing advanced network administration, operational support and problem resolution for workloads and applications hosted in both cloud platforms and on-premise
  • stay in tune with new technologies in your areas but not limited to cloud computing & deployment, site reliability engineering, network design/architecture, infrastructure automation, security best practices, data engineering

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in an Engineering role namely Routing and Switching, Cloud Networking Technologies (BGP, OSPF, DNS, AWS/GCP/Azure Network Services)
  • good understanding of networking requirements for different cloud models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and emerging container platforms (ECS/EKS/PCF)
  • desired experience using CI/CD and automation tools such as Sedona, Python, Cloud Formation, Terraform, Puppet, Jenkins, GitHub
  • experience working in Financial Services or a large complex and/or global environment
  • project management experience
  • consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • demonstrated analytic/diagnostic skills
  • ability to work in a matrix environment and partner with virtual teams
  • ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of various
  • proven track record of operational process change and improvement

Nice to have
