Job Description:

Join the Legal team to protect Barclays, its employees, and its brands while ensuring global competitiveness and compliance with legal standards. Your responsibilities will include risk mitigation, managing strategic transactions, and overseeing business contracts. Join Barclays as a Netting Lawyer VP, where you will have the chance to join the Netting Team in Markets Legal as a junior-to-mid level VP. Within the Markets Legal team, you will redefine the future of banking and help craft innovative solutions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide senior legal support to the global Markets business
  • Advise on multi-faceted legal matters impacting Barclays’ trading activities worldwide
  • Identify, assess, and guide the management of legal and reputational risks associated with the bank’s trading relationships and transactions
  • Analyze the enforceability of close-out netting and collateral arrangements
  • Development and implementation of best practice legal strategies
  • Legal advice and support to business units in the Markets division
  • Subject matter support in legal proceedings
  • Creation and review of legal documents
  • Legal research and analysis
  • Developing and delivering training programmes
  • Pro-active identification, communication, and provision of legal advice

Requirements:

  • Experience as a qualified lawyer with knowledge gained in private practice and/or in-house (c.5-8 years post-qualification experience considered)
  • Ability to identify and communicate legal and commercial risks within the framework of the firm’s governance and risk policies
  • Prior knowledge and experience of one or more of the following: derivatives and securities financing master trading agreements, bankruptcy/insolvency law, regulatory capital requirements
