Your opportunity At Schwab, you will build a rewarding career while making a difference in the lives of our millions of clients. Here, innovative thinking meets creative problem solving as we work together to challenge the status quo. We believe in the power of collaboration and the value of working together in person. As a result, this role is based on-site in either our Southlake or Austin office. Workplace Services Engineering (WSE) is an organization within Schwab Technology Services that is embarking on a major transformation. We support Workplace Services, and we’re shaping the future of how people experience financial well‑being at work. We partner with leading employers to deliver innovative retirement, equity, and workplace financial solutions that help millions of participants build stronger financial futures. This is a fast‑growing, high‑impact business where scale meets purpose—where your work directly influences how people plan, save, invest, and succeed.   As a key growth engine for the firm, we’re investing more than ever to expand our capabilities, modernize platforms, and elevate the experiences we deliver to employers and their employees. Our teams work at the intersection of technology, service, and financial expertise—supporting workplace clients with solutions that scale, adapt, and deliver meaningful outcomes. Here, your ideas help shape what’s next for workplace financial services. If you’re energized by solving complex problems, collaborating across disciplines, and making a real difference in the workplace services industry, you’ll find your place here. In this role, you will help design and build scalable platforms supporting critical workplace applications such as Equity Administration, PCRA, and Retirement Plan Services. • Leverage AI‑enabled tools and modernization patterns to enhance development quality and efficiency
  • Work within an Agile/SAFe environment, collaborating cross‑functionally with product, engineering, and business partners
  • Participate as an influencer—helping shape technical direction and advocating for scalable, secure, and inclusive engineering solutions

Requirements:

  • BS/MS degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Experience building RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core
  • Working knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with SQL Server or other relational databases and ORM frameworks such as Entity Framework Core
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud‑native concepts
  • Experience working in Agile/SAFe methodologies and contributing within SCRUM teams
  • Exposure to CI/CD practices, DevOps tooling, automation, and secure coding practices
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional partners, communicate technical concepts clearly, and align solutions with business needs
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to learn new technologies quickly

Nice to have:

  • Experience providing technical leadership, mentorship, or serving as a feature lead
  • Hands‑on work in modernization projects (APIs, microservices, cloud migration, platform uplift)
  • Exposure to enterprise‑scale, highly available systems
  • Additional depth with cloud platforms (GCP preferred), Kubernetes, or distributed event‑based architectures
  • Experience with DevOps automation tooling and advanced CI/CD patterns
  • Working knowledge of application security, performance tuning, and monitoring/observability tools
  • Certifications demonstrating continuous learning, such as: Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, AWS Solutions Architect – Associate, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
