Job Description:

Join our client's dynamic team as a Naval Architect / Marine Engineer Contractor! Responsibilities include technical support, preparing work scopes, developing engineering work packages, conducting risk assessments and failure analysis, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and codes. This hybrid position offers flexibility and a chance to work in a professional role with a potential path to permanent employment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare documented work scopes, suitable for the solicitation of quotations from external resources such as Original Equipment Manufacturers, suppliers, testing facilities or specialist service providers
  • Prepare technical quotations, proposals, and cost estimates for Customer approval
  • Develop and review technical job instructions and engineering work packages
  • Provide technical input into problems associated with equipment or system malfunction, including failure analysis and solution development
  • Conduct detailed naval architecture tasks including requirements analysis, performance improvement investigations, material compatibility investigations, review of equipment/system design and maintenance documentation, failure analysis, risk and hazard assessments, support lifting appliance certification, design and testing, structural and stability calculations, hull surveys, lightship surveys, and inclining tests
  • Assure compliance with hull-related Classification Society, Naval Ship Code and Polar Code requirements.

Requirements:

  • An Engineering degree or equivalent in Naval Architecture, Marine or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of ten years maritime experience in Ship Repair, Ship Building or Ship Operational Experience
  • Eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia, Nova Scotia, or Ontario, Canada
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 5+ years experience in project management of ship repair and engineering change projects
  • Experience with design and certification of shipboard lifting appliances including marine cranes
  • Familiar with conducting weight and stability calculations and associated tools, and lightship surveys
  • Previous experience working with a defense contract
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Language: English (Essential), French (Desirable).
