Job Description:

Natural Areas student employees function to support environmental education, land management assistance, research, or other responsibilities associated with our mission. For those working with environmental ed, they assist in leading grades K-12 school field trips at EKU’s natural areas including Maywoods Environmental Education Laboratory, Lilley Cornett Woods, and Taylor Fork. The Division of Natural Areas will provide lesson plans and training for these activities as well as transportation to the sites.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support environmental education, land management assistance, research, or other responsibilities associated with our mission
  • Assist in leading grades K-12 school field trips at EKU’s natural areas including Maywoods Environmental Education Laboratory, Lilley Cornett Woods, and Taylor Fork
  • Assist with minor trail maintenance and repair
  • Assist with environmental education or natural history research projects
  • Work with community outreach programs such as Family Nature Day
  • Develop interpretive signs and brochures
  • Work on feasibility studies in order to develop new programming
