A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into practice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas. Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values, patient/customer focus, taking ownership, health care knowledge, teamwork, clinical performance improvement, service excellence, decision making and critical thinking, and patient safety.
Job Responsibility:
Builds skills to utilize current evidence based practice knowledge, the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals across the lifespan and care continuum
Learns to collaborate and communicate with the interprofessional team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes
Develops accountability for own practice, delegated care, and the coordination of care delivery
Behaves in a manner that supports colleagues, and maintains respect, trust and dignity
Acquires and maintains knowledge in nursing practice and assumes responsibility for the professional development of self
Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience
Active License as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State in which s/he will be practicing or the state of primary residency if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state
BLS certification - American Heart Association
Additional certifications may be required based on population(s) served and services provided
