A warm, easy-going and well-travelled German/Australian family based in beautiful Byron Bay is seeking a mature, capable and energetic nanny/mother’s helper to join their household for the next two years. The family has five children (ages 3–11) and are expecting their sixth baby in April 2026. The parents are very hands-on and engaged. Mum is a full-time mother who also runs her own business, and Dad works from home when not travelling overseas. The family enjoys an active, outdoor lifestyle (regular beach days), healthy cooking, entertaining friends and travelling both locally and internationally. They are looking for someone who can confidently step into a supportive “third parent” role — proactive, organised and able to seamlessly integrate into daily family life.

Job Responsibility

  • Helping children get ready for school
  • Preparing breakfast and school lunchboxes
  • School drop-offs and pick-ups
  • Transporting children to extracurricular activities
  • Taking younger children to the playground
  • Assisting with dinner service and bath/bed routines
  • General household support throughout the day
  • Daily laundry (washing, folding, ironing)
  • Making beds
  • Vacuuming and kitchen clean-up
  • Packing away groceries
  • Cleaning fridge
  • Organising children’s clothes for the next day
  • Tidying toys and shared spaces
  • Running errands
  • Weekly juicing
  • Weekly healthy snack baking (e.g. muffins)
  • Cooking simple children’s meals (spaghetti bolognese, crumbed chicken, pasta bake, fried rice, etc.)
  • Assisting with adult meal prep (chopping vegetables, etc.)

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience working as nanny/house manager in a similar role with multiple children
  • Childcare qualifications preferred (flexible depending on candidate)
  • First Aid & CPR (or willing to obtain)
  • Working With Children Check
  • Confident Driver with a strong driving record and full licence required and must have own car (Family vehicle also provided) – Driving children to school and extracurricular activities required
  • Confident cooking family-style meals
  • Non-smoker

Nice to have

Ideally, the nanny would speak German or French, with French-speaking candidates highly regarded to help maintain the children’s French language development.
