Job Description

SoftClouds LLC is seeking a highly experienced MySQL Database Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of large-scale, mission-critical database systems. The ideal candidate will have significant hands-on experience in real-time production environments, including database clustering, performance optimization, and end-to-end data migration from on-premises to cloud platforms. This role requires both technical depth and strategic vision to ensure scalability, resilience, and business continuity of enterprise data systems.

Job Responsibility

  • Architect and deploy robust, high-availability MySQL database environments for enterprise applications
  • Lead cloud migration initiatives (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI) involving data transfer, schema redesign, and performance validation
  • Design and implement clustering, replication, and sharding strategies to ensure data availability and fault tolerance
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery (DR) and backup strategies leveraging best-in-class tools and methodologies
  • Perform query optimization, data modeling, and schema design for high-performance workloads
  • Define and enforce database security, compliance, and access management standards
  • Automate database operations using tools like Ansible, Terraform, Percona, or equivalent
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Infrastructure, Application Development) to align database strategies with organizational goals
  • Provide thought leadership and mentorship to database engineers and developers

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional experience managing large-scale MySQL production systems
  • Proven success in on-premises to cloud migration projects with minimal downtime and zero data loss
  • Strong expertise in MySQL internals, InnoDB, replication, and clustering technologies (Group Replication, Galera)
  • Advanced proficiency in query tuning, index optimization, and schema refactoring
  • Hands-on experience with automation, monitoring, and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch)
  • Skilled in scripting (Python, Shell) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Deep understanding of high-availability architecture, load balancing, and distributed database systems
  • Experience with database security, encryption at rest and in transit, and compliance standards (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOC 2)
  • Strong knowledge of backup and recovery solutions (mysqldump, Percona XtraBackup, mysqld_safe)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in mission-critical environments
  • Strong communication and documentation skills for knowledge transfer and strategic planning
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
