U.S. Bank Global Fund Services is seeking a future team member for the role of Mutual Fund Tax Supervisor position. As a Mutual Fund Tax Supervisor you will be responsible for managing day-to-day RIC tax work, ensuring client timelines and deliverable dates are met. The position involves reviewing tax work prepared by others, including fiscal and excise tax provisions, tax returns, and ICI primary/secondary/NRA for various fund families and fund types such as RICs, ETFs, CEFs, and BDCs. The individual will serve as the primary contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and auditors, responding to inquiries and requests. Additionally, this role leads and develops a team of 1–3 direct reports who prepare and/or review tax work, while handling technical tax issues and consulting with other tax supervisors and managers as needed.
Job Responsibility:
Manage day-to-day RIC tax work, client timelines, and deliverable dates
Review tax work including: Fiscal year-end tax provisions
Excise year-end tax provisions and determine excise distribution requirements
Forms 1120-RIC, 8613, and state filings
ICI Primary and FBAR reporting
Serve as the primary contact for client correspondence, regulatory agencies, and auditors
Routinely handle assigned client calls and communications
Lead and develop a team of 1–3 direct reports
mentor tax technical skills for grade levels 10, 11, and 12
Address tax technical issues and escalate matters to the tax director when appropriate
Contribute to tax policies and procedures
advocate for process improvements
Participate in tax team audits and training initiatives
conduct team trainings
Evaluate team controls, procedures, and processes for continuous improvement
Demonstrate strong communication and writing skills, problem-solving abilities, and a solution-oriented approach
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience
Eight or more years of related work experience
Ideally 5–8+ years of RIC tax experience
Thorough knowledge of operational issues involving mutual funds
Advanced understanding of legal, regulatory, and accounting principles impacting the mutual fund industry
Ability to successfully coordinate and follow through on short- and long-term projects
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in PC applications
Proven relationship-building skills
Strong tax technical foundation, risk identification, and resolution skills
Positive attitude and ability to foster respect among peers
