Job Description:

Can you turn a classroom into a concert hall? We are looking for a Music specialist who can inspire students to find their rhythm, refine their technique, and compose their own future. We are seeking a talented and versatile Qualified Music Teacher (QTS) to join a creative and well-equipped department in Bury St Edmunds. Whether you are a classically trained pianist, a tech-savvy producer, or a seasoned performer, we need an educator who can engage students across KS3 and KS4. This school prides itself on its performing arts culture, and we need a teacher who can lead both the curriculum and the extracurricular heartbeat of the school.

Job Responsibility:

  • GCSE & BTEC Excellence: Lead Year 10 and 11 students through their exam specifications, providing expert guidance on performance techniques, set-work analysis, and composition portfolios
  • Music Technology Integration: Utilise modern software (such as Sibelius, Logic Pro, or GarageBand) to make composition accessible and professional for all learners
  • Extracurricular Leadership: Coordinate and lead school choirs, bands, or orchestras, and organize seasonal concerts and showcase events to celebrate student talent
  • Inclusive Harmony: Differentiate lessons to support students of all musical backgrounds-from those picking up an instrument for the first time to advanced Grade 8 musicians
  • Instrumental Management: Work alongside peripatetic teachers to ensure a cohesive musical education for students receiving 1:1 tuition

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A degree in Music, Music Performance, or a related field
  • Multi-Instrumental Proficiency: A strong personal standard in at least one instrument (or voice) and a working knowledge of keyboard/guitar for classroom demonstration
  • Enthusiastic Presence: The ability to create a 'fail-safe' environment where students feel confident to perform and experiment with sound
  • Curriculum Knowledge: A deep understanding of diverse musical genres, from classical and jazz to pop and world music
  • Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one urgently through Randstad)
What we offer:
  • Elite PAYE Rates: £150 - £240 per day
  • Bury St Edmunds Arts Hub: Work in a school that values Music as a core part of its identity, offering great practice rooms and performance spaces
  • Professional Development: Access to free, certified CPD in Safeguarding in the Arts, Composition Pedagogy, and Classroom Management
  • Personalised Advocacy: Work with Neeraj, your dedicated consultant who will help you find the right school culture for your musical style
  • Referral Rewards: Earn a £300 voucher for every qualified teacher you successfully refer to our team!
