Job Description

Certificated Vacancy: The West Seneca Central School District is seeking a full-time Music teacher to provide instrumental (band), small group lesson instruction for students at both the elementary and secondary levels. This traveling position is also responsible for teaching our high school music history course. This is a probationary appointment with salary and benefits paid according to the West Seneca Teachers' Association's collective bargaining agreement and commensurate with experience.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide instrumental (band) instruction and small group lesson instruction for students at both elementary and secondary levels
  • Teach high school music history course
  • Create a safe, stimulating and nurturing learning environment
  • Assist every student in reaching his/her potential
  • Plan and prepare lessons
  • Lead effective instruction
  • Participate in long-range planning including own professional development

Requirements

  • New York State Teaching Certification: Music (Pre K-12)
  • Knowledge of teaching music in a differentiated format
  • Ability to demonstrate and perform on primary and secondary instrument(s)
  • Experience with a variety of classroom management skills and behavior intervention programs
  • Knowledge of program modifications, testing accommodations and supplementary aides
  • Strong computer and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and work with other members of the department
  • Ability to demonstrate and perform with proper vocal technique
  • Instrumental (Band) conducting experience preferred
  • Working With Disabled/Medically Fragile Children
  • Technology Literacy: Google Docs, Google Apps for Education, Promethean Boards and Smart Boards, Microsoft Office
