Job Description:

Our client, a Canadian-owned consulting firm specializing in civil engineering services for municipalities and public agencies is looking for a Municipal CAD Designer to join their team. Their firm has a diverse team of professionals, including Engineers, Project Managers, Technologists, and Contract Administrators, who handle everything from municipal infrastructure design to construction inspection.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design & Drafting: Create preliminary and detailed 2D/3D drawings for municipal projects (sewer, water, site grading, road corridors) using Civil 3D
  • Modeling & Analysis: Develop complex 3D surface models, perform grading design, and calculate earthworks volumes
  • Ensure all drawings comply with municipal, provincial/state, and company CAD standards
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare reports, tender packages, as-built drawings, and construction specifications
  • Coordination: Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and contractors to address technical issues and ensure project milestones are met
  • Survey Data Usage: Import and process raw survey field data into drafting software

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering Design, or Drafting Technology
  • Expert knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • 4+ years of experience in municipal or land development engineering
  • Understanding of municipal infrastructure design, surveying techniques, and construction practices

  • Lead business development activities for the Civil practice area in coordination with the GRAEF Business Development leaders by identifying, developing, and managing client relationships
  • Leadership and responsibility of project and civil pursuits
  • Prepare, coordinate and review civil proposals, including fee establishment, contract negotiation, billing, and collections
  • Advise and develop project managers, fostering independence and leadership
  • Serve as a technical resource for multidisciplinary teams
  • Project and client management, making presentations and conducting client development activities
