This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join one of the UK’s leading multi-utility infrastructure providers. You’ll join a company that prides itself on delivering exceptional customer service across their sectors. Working from their Sheffield office, you’ll lead a friendly and inclusive team in their designs across the gas, power, fibre and water sectors. As the Multi-utility Design Manager, you’ll report to the Asset Director and lead the Design Team in ensuring that all designs have been approved within legal standards and are in place for construction. The role will see you help to develop MU Design Engineers in their designs as well as liaising directly with clients to ensure that the designs are to the specification.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage a team of of design engineers to ensure all projects have required network design approvals and legal consents
  • Ensure all designs are adhered to in line with industry as well as Health and Safety standards
  • Undertake regular audits to monitor and manage the quality of designs produced
  • Feedback any developments from design audits to the relevant designer to improve design quality
  • Annually complete reviews of the team to prepare personal developments and targets
  • Liaise with asset owners to ensure designs are to their approval and kept to specifications
  • Work in partnership with the Project Coordination, Operations Support and Construction teams to ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar design role
  • Knowledge of electric, gas, water and fibre industry
  • Relevant degree or equivalent level of qualification
  • Experience of DNO/ICP regulations
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with patience and care to clients
  • Excellent attention to detail
