Job Responsibility:

  • Ensure health, safety, food handling, and infection control standards are followed in the catering area
  • Support the Catering Supervisor/Cook with ordering, receiving, and maintaining food in accordance with safe practices and legislation
  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of quality meals and home baking
  • Help ensure menus are balanced and meet the individual needs of our residents
  • Gain knowledge of nutrition and diet standards suitable for older people, including the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST) guidelines
  • Ensure food is stored safely and in compliance with standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the nursing home
  • Perform cleaning duties such as dusting, vacuuming, polishing, and mopping various areas, including kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, and living spaces
  • Manage waste disposal in a hygienic manner and adhere to infection control procedures
  • Report defects and any issues that could affect the standard of service
  • Prepare residents' laundry, sorting soiled clothing and linen for processing
  • Coordinate with external laundry services when needed
  • Fold and store clothing and linen, ensuring high-quality standards are met
  • Adhere to health, safety, fire, and infection control standards in the laundry area

Requirements:

  • Current and valid certificates in Infection Control, Chemical Awareness, Food Handling, HACCP, Manual Handling, Resident Moving & Handling, and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (training can be provided if needed)
  • Previous experience in elderly care within a residential care home setting is preferred
  • Strong focus on health and safety procedures at all times
  • A genuine passion for delivering exceptional care to older people with patience, a sense of humour, and a positive attitude
