Amentum is seeking a high-level Multi-Skilled Technician V to join our 1st Shift industrial maintenance team in Lafayette, IN. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will oversee troubleshooting, servicing, and calibrating electrical, mechanical, and process production equipment. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs for site-specific tools and systems in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as SME for electrical and mechanical systems, including programming and calibrating PLCs, HMIs, and ladder logic systems
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment including electrical systems, robotic controls, electro-mechanical test devices, pumps, motors, gearboxes, supply and exhaust fans, coolant systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, power transmission components, cranes, hoists, and other industrial systems
Perform preventive maintenance on process equipment per CMMS schedule
Lead and conduct technical calibrations using measurement tools
Train and mentor junior technicians
Collaborate with site management and customers to identify barriers and deliver solutions
Identify critical spare inventory and recommend equipment reliability improvements
Monitor and promote adherence to Amentum’s Safety Structure by conducting safety inspections
Perform root cause analysis, document cost-saving initiatives, and identify process enhancements
Maintain and improve facility and process operations
Perform other facility maintenance tasks as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
5+ years’ experience in mechanical maintenance of production equipment in an industrial setting
Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing machine tools, robotic systems, control systems, and industrial equipment
Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems including control circuits (24V–480V AC) and variable frequency drives
Proven experience diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical and electrical system failures
Ability to work from aerial or scissor lifts at heights up to 30 feet
U.S. Citizenship required
Nice to have:
Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Technology, Industrial Mechanical, or related field
Expertise in diagnosing and repairing industrial systems such as conveyors, coolant systems, and Harpoon systems to OEM specifications
Expertise in diagnosing and repairing pumps, motors, cranes, hoists, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and power transmission components
Experience using precision calibration tools, performing alignments, and maintaining OEM equipment tolerances
Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis) and measurement of cost savings
Experience utilizing measurement and diagnostic tools for energy efficiency and system performance optimization
