Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Shift Electrical Bias to work with a range of Mitie clients to conduct work that provides a multi-skilled maintenance service, which covers electrical and mechanical disciplines and to provide a reactive and pro-active maintenance service as per project requirements to all operational equipment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Complete electrical installations and assist tradespeople with wiring, calibration, and alignment tasks
  • Carry out testing, fault diagnosis, repairs, and updates to maintenance work orders
  • Use appropriate test equipment and tools, understanding their limitations
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures—no live working permitted
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and attend toolbox talks
  • Carry out modifications and installations when required
  • Maintain, repair, and calibrate electrical, mechanical and instrumentation plant to optimize both reliability and maintainability
  • Provide a service that ensures all key performance indicators are met
  • Liaise with contractors or external suppliers where required
  • Complete any required paperwork
  • Produce reports accurately and on a timely basis

Requirements:

  • Qualified to BS 7671 (18th Edition) in Electrical Installations
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, plant, and controls
  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings and procedures
  • Self-motivated, well-organised, and eager to learn
  • Respectful, professional, and confident in raising safety concerns

  • Lead teams within an area or zone
  • Ensure the Engineering maintenance carried out in line with the schedule and effective and efficient corrective action is taken
  • Quick and effective response to Mechanical, Electrical and PLC control breakdowns anywhere on site, identifying root cause and suggesting possible improvements to prevent further breakdowns occurring
  • Communicate unscheduled breakdowns to the Engineering Shift Manager / Principal Engineer and work with the operations department to minimise plant disruption
  • Follow good engineering standards and good hygiene practice for the department
  • Ensure all activities are carried out within company and legislative health and safety guidelines, highlighting possible areas of improvement to the Engineering Shift Manager / Principal Engineer
  • Mentor to Level 1 to 3 Maintenance Engineers as well as Apprentices
  • Timely reporting of any Health and Safety, Animal Welfare and Environmental Issues
  • Follow the communicated escalation route for unscheduled plant downtime and minimise downtime by following a good engineering practice
