Job Description

Are you a skilled Multi Trade Operative looking for a role where your work truly matters? A leading company in the Defence sector is seeking a Multi Trade Operative in Oxfordshire to support the maintenance and upkeep of key Defence facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a varied estate, carrying out maintenance, repairs, compliance works and minor refurbishments that directly contribute to the safe and efficient operation of essential Defence sites.

Job Responsibility

  • Carry out reactive maintenance, repairs, compliance works and minor refurbishment projects across multiple Defence sites
  • Undertake a wide variety of maintenance tasks including plumbing, basic electrical repairs, plastering, mechanical maintenance and general building repairs
  • Work across both domestic and commercial buildings, adapting to a varied workload
  • Manage your daily workload digitally using a tablet or mobile device while maintaining accurate job records
  • Travel between sites using a company van and fuel card provided
  • Support general storekeeping and yard duties when required
  • Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a skilled maintenance team
  • Participate in an on-call rota, responding to emergency maintenance requirements when required

Requirements

  • Practical experience within maintenance, Facilities Management, construction or social housing
  • Experience carrying out a broad range of building maintenance and repair tasks
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including COSHH and RIDDOR
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to maintenance
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively both independently and within a team
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance (SC)
  • Trade qualifications are desirable but not essential
  • strong hands-on experience will also be considered

  • Participate in a 1 in 8 on-call rota, including Saturday mornings (8:00am–12:30pm), to provide out-of-hours emergency maintenance support
