Job Description:

As a Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer you will optimise machinery output and product quality, and minimise plant downtime through effective preventative maintenance, efficient breakdown response whilst maintaining a safe and healthy environment and promoting good engineering practice.

Job Responsibility:

  • Taking a lead role within your team during breakdowns with your skills and experience
  • Ensuring that maintenance is carried out in line with PPM schedules and that effective and efficient corrective action is taken
  • Quick and effective response to breakdowns in more than one area on site, where possible identifying root cause and suggesting possible improvements to prevent further breakdowns occurring
  • Communicating unscheduled breakdowns to the Engineering Shift Manager / Principal Engineer and work with the operations department to minimise plant disruption
  • Following engineering standards and good hygiene practice for the department & site
  • Ensuring all activities are carried out within health and safety guidelines, highlighting possible areas of improvement to the Engineering Shift Manager / Principal Engineer
  • Timely reporting of any Health and Safety, Animal Welfare and Environmental Issues
  • Demonstrating basic fault finding techniques to identify root cause of issues
  • Raising Stock and Non-Stock request forms
  • Use of the CMMS system for spare parts, to log and complete jobs

Requirements:

  • An advanced Engineering Apprenticeship in either mechanical or electrical disciplines
  • Solid Engineering experience, ideally within food manufacturing
  • Familiarity with process machinery or equivalent equipment and have the ability to fault find
  • Mechanical fitting skills
  • The ability to mentor colleagues
  • A self-motivated attitude with the ability to multi-task and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
  • An individual who is keen to make a difference with their pro-activeness and a can-do attitude

Nice to have:

  • Machining, welding and fabrication experience
  • Industrial refrigeration experience
  • Desirable IEE 17th or 18th edition
  • Desirable Advanced Electrical qualification
  • Desirable good knowledge of PLCs, Variable speed drives and control systems
