Job Description:

This is a standalone, business-critical position offering real autonomy and the opportunity to become the internal specialist for a core operational system. You will be responsible for the ongoing stability, maintenance and optimisation of a legacy Oracle/Unix-based MRP system (Evolution), supporting both IT and manufacturing teams across two UK sites.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintaining and optimising Oracle database performance (Unix/IBM environment)
  • Ensuring maximum system uptime
  • Troubleshooting system and data issues
  • Supporting month-end and year-end processes
  • Creating and developing tailored reports (Evolution)
  • Performing preventative maintenance and regular system checks
  • Testing upgrades and liaising with third-party vendors
  • Translating technical issues into clear, practical solutions for business users

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting MRP/ERP systems within a manufacturing environment
  • Oracle database experience (Unix-based systems)
  • Basic SQL knowledge for querying data
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience operating in a standalone or highly autonomous role
  • The ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users

Nice to have:

Experience with Evolution reporting tools, Unix environments, or legacy ERP platforms would be highly advantageous
