As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing high-quality magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations to assist in diagnosing medical conditions.Every day you will prepare patients for scans, operate advanced MRI equipment, ensure patient safety in the magnetic environment, and accurately capture detailed anatomical images.To be successful, you will demonstrate expert technical proficiency in MRI, meticulous attention to detail for image quality and safety, and excellent patient communication to ensure a comfortable and effective diagnostic experience.
Job Responsibility:
Perform high-quality magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations to assist in diagnosing medical conditions
Prepare patients for scans
Operate advanced MRI equipment
Ensure patient safety in the magnetic environment
Accurately capture detailed anatomical images
Enforce magnetic field safety for MRI patients, operator and visitors
Monitor the patient’s condition before and after the scan
Explain testing procedures to patient
Position and instruct the patient about the preparation for the MRI test
Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines
Prepare equipment ensuring it is operational, safe and functioning
Problem solve equipment failure and imaging quality
Complete all quality checks and ensure equipment logs are maintained
Complete all clinical supply inventory
Actively participate with patient exams, performing routine, urgent, and emergent patient requests
Assist with patients with basic clinical care
Assist with patient scheduling when required
Ensure patient orientation, preparation/history and teaching is provided
Review the physician orders to verify the types of diagnostic exam requested
Select the specific equipment settings for the prescribed exam and modify settings to ensure optimal image quality
Complete the diagnostic exam according to specific departmental procedural protocols
Obtain assistance with any procedure which are not completed, or if there are any patient care issues
Complete patient visit by ensuring the exam is complete, documentation has been processed and the patient has been discharged safely
Complete image processing, PACS QA, including the documentation of logs, demographic and diagnostic information
Complete all image post-processing
Requirements:
High School Diploma (required)
Associate’s Degree in Healthcare field or Imaging Studies (preferred)
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – ARRT (R) at time of hire, then maintain as current (required)
ARMRIT(American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) certification or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – ARRT (MR) at time of hire or within 9 months of hire/transfer, then maintain as current (required)
Certified by the state of Texas – MRT within 9 months of hire/transfer (required)
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (required)
Previous MRI experience preferred
