The MRI Research Technologist is part of an innovative team providing access to imaging and expertise that supports a vibrant research community. You will provide expertise to academic, health and industry users through project development involving the development of protocols, delivery of imaging and support of data management, processing and analysis methods. The position will work on both 3T and 64mT systems but has focus on supporting and developing our 64mT research program in conjunction with other technical staff, data science and AI fellow, and dedicated clinical support fellow. SAHMRI’s priorities areas are projects in cerebrovascular health, traumatic injury and the role of portable imaging in improving health equity. This may include portable scanner deployment in a regional centre.
Job Responsibility:
Operating 3T and 64mT MRI equipment to research level
Provide expert knowledge in MRI and imaging technologies to researchers throughout Australia
Support user collaborations and projects in 64mT with impact through scientific publication or changes in practice
Support research data and processing pipelines for timely analysis and reporting
Report to project managers and scientific committees
Contribute to competitive funding applications, scientific publications and reporting of research activity
Participate in special projects to continuously improve processes and systems and organisation
Represent the SA node of the National Imaging Facility locally and nationally
Requirements:
Eligibility to work in South Australia
Appropriate Undergraduate Degree or equivalent qualification in Medical Radiation Science
Postgraduate qualifications in MRI or physics, or equivalent experience
Current registration with AHPRA
At least two years working predominantly in the field of MRI
Appreciation of research methods and disease models
Knowledge of MRI reconstruction and experimentation
Proficient in routine image processing
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication, engagement and presentation skills
Ability to work independently under project pressure with timeframes and budget
Skills in report writing and presentations
Project management skills including timely delivery of outputs, monitoring and resolving issues
