M&P Engineer (Entry or Associate Level) Chemical/Contamination Boeing Commercial Airplanes Materials & Processes Engineering (BCA M&PE) is seeking an Entry or Associate level Chemical Engineer for the 737 Production Support team in Renton, WA. In this role, the candidate will identify, lead, and implement projects which will improve product quality and safety, improve process flow, and lead on innovation. You will define engineering requirements to develop, select, or recommend parts, materials, processes, and manufacturing technologies in chemical materials and processes. Leveraging your expertise in Boeing parts, materials, and processes, you will analyze, resolve, and optimize product and process challenges throughout the Boeing product lifecycle. The candidate will work with manufacturing and engineering teams as the chemical process focal for 737 Production. The candidate will have or develop a detailed understanding of chemical processing, paint and sealant application, and the engineering requirements associated with metal finishing. This position involves problem solving using analytical chemistry testing methods, and data to aid in quality failure investigations and decisions regarding product integrity.
Job Responsibility:
Defines requirements and approves tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of products
Produces specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes
Maintains compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations
Promotes standardization across business activities
Evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs
Develops and qualifies new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements
Integrates new technologies as appropriate
Manage test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements
Conducts analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools, materials, parts or processes
Implements corrective and preventive actions
Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas
Requirements:
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, materials science engineering, chemical engineering, or chemistry experience with driving manufacturing process improvements informed by data
Experience with solving technically complex manufacturing problems
Experience with chemical technology or a material focus area: paints, coatings, finishes, and/or sealants
Experience driving data-informed manufacturing process improvements and complex technical manufacturing challenges
Must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process
Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements
U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required
Nice to have:
2+ years’ experience in production or manufacturing environment (aerospace strongly preferred)
inorganic and organic chemical processing (such as chromic acid anodizing, phosphoric acid anodizing, sulfuric acid anodizing, etching, plating and coatings and/or finishes)
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
