Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Motor Trade Development Underwriter to join our clients’ team. As a Motor Trade Development Underwriter, you will play a key role in analysing, evaluating, and underwriting motor trade and motor fleet insurance business, while ensuring compliance with company guidelines and industry regulations. You will have the opportunity to work with a talented team in a collaborative and inclusive environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Serving as an integral member of the Motor Trade team, you will contribute to the development and execution of branch plans for the product and revenue lead
  • You will represent the business in presenting proposals for larger MM and MC risks, leveraging industry knowledge and technical underwriting expertise, tailored to the scale and complexity of each case
  • Negotiate coverage, terms, and pricing that distinguish the company in addressing customer needs
  • Underwrite profitable new business in line with established underwriting controls and practices, while acting as a referral point within the branch for New Business and, when needed, renewals
  • Underwrite large or complex risks within your designated authority. Build and maintain strong underwriting relationships with key brokers to drive profitable growth
  • Serve as a referral point for Underwriters, providing guidance, coaching, and training to enhance the team’s technical expertise and trading skills
  • Follow underwriting guidelines and hold regular reviews with the Branch Underwriting Manager

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of underwriting principles and practices, with a focus on motor trade and motor fleet
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining productive relationships with brokers and agents
  • Proficiency in utilising underwriting software and Microsoft Office suite
