Basic Life Support preferred
Successful completion of an electrocardiogram course or experience and upon hire successful completion of the electrocardiogram monitoring exam within 30 days of hire
Basic computer skills
18 months of experience required

Successful completion of an approved dysrhythmia course during first week of hire and must pass dysrhythmia test during first week of orientation
Previous monitor technician and clerical experience preferred.
Knowledge of various dysrhythmias
Knowledge of medical terminology
Basic computer skills
Strong communication skills

Job Responsibility

Ensures continuous telemetry monitoring is established and documentation is maintained.
Ensures monitoring equipment is functioning correctly.
Ensures dysrhythmias or rhythm changes are communicated timely.
Maintains knowledge and skills related to dysrhythmia monitoring.
Participates in quality improvement projects.
Supports provision of age/developmental appropriate care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the age groups served.
Promotes efficient use of fiscal resources.

Requirements

Minimum one year experience monitoring cardiac activity
Electrocardiography (ECG) Certification by time of hire
Availability to work weekends and rotating shifts, including evenings, nights and holidays
Basic Life Support license/certification

Job Responsibility

Monitors and accurately interprets cardiac rhythms of patients on telemetric equipment
Provides continuous observation and identifies basic arrhythmias
Provides prompt notification of changes/issues or dysrhythmia to the RN or Physician as they occur
Troubleshoots false alarms and system /equipment issues
Documents values and mounts rhythm strips according to unit standards
Provides continuous observation of the patients who are being monitored during special procedures
