Graduate from an accredited EKG Technician Program
Completed Internship at Baylor St Luke's Medical Center
One (1) year of experience as a Monitor Tech, EMT, or Paramedic
Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 days

Job Responsibility

Continuous observation of monitored EKG patterns and pulse oximetry as ordered
Set up, calibrate and maintain settings and alarms on telemetry module
Obtain rhythm strip at beginning of shift, on admission and whenever changes occur
Label strip with patient identification, time, lead monitored, PR interval, ST interval, QRS interval
Troubleshoot telemetry equipment
Ensure monitors are functioning properly
Ensure telemetry supplies are readily available
Account for all telemetry transmitters
Verify daily telemetry charges
Identify changes in rate, rhythm, or pattern, notifying RN of these changes

Observes and documents ECG monitors according to established guidelines, and reports to appropriate staff the necessary information such as patient name, room number, cardiac rhythm, dysrhythmia, and life-threatening situations
Maintains, monitors, cleans equipment and reports any malfunctions to the appropriate Biomed individual
Sets up central station
Monitors alarms, troubleshoots false alarms, and corrects improper lead placement
Assists with rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia detection
Labels monitor strips to indicate significant events such as defibrillation, electrical-cardioversion, CPR and code medication administration
Records information in patient's log and maintains accurate, neat account of patient's cardiac monitoring status during episode of care
