Job Description

Operator 1, Molding position for a manufacturing facility in Sumter, South Carolina. This is a contract, hourly position responsible for operating injection molding presses to produce quality molded components, supporting downstream production, and performing minor maintenance on assigned equipment.

Job Responsibility

  • Operate multi-cavity injection molding presses and auxiliary equipment to manufacture products conforming to quality specifications at rated output
  • Supply downstream equipment with molded components
  • inspect components and request technical support to maintain part quality
  • Conduct minor maintenance activities on assigned presses
  • Collaborate with molding team members to keep equipment running during breaks and call-outs
  • Place surplus molded components into inventory
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all products, raw materials, and quality specifications for the department
  • Keep machinery, work area, and floors neat and orderly
  • comply with GMP requirements
  • Perform thorough product inspections and make appropriate quality-related decisions
  • Stay familiar with relevant controlled documents (Work Instructions, Forms), preventative maintenance task lists, and equipment manuals
  • Additional duties: stacking boxes and totes, bagging material, printing labels

Requirements

  • 0-5 years overall
  • 1-2 years of manufacturing experience preferred, ideally with injection molding presses (both electric and hydraulic)
  • Injection molding press operation (multi-cavity, electric & hydraulic)
  • Auxiliary equipment handling
  • Product quality inspection
  • Minor equipment maintenance
  • Ability to work effectively in a team with limited supervision
  • GMP compliance and adherence to controlled documents
  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • Must be able to work effectively with limited supervision
  • Eye exam required
  • Candidates can start while background checks are pending, provided all criminal background checks are eventually cleared
