The incumbent will report to the Director of Molding & Extrusion, responsible for the medical devices business. The incumbent will be responsible, at an entry level, for design, development, and commercialization of molding processes and equipment for existing products and other new medical devices. They will work with senior engineers, marketing’ and project leaders to create/redefine product specifications through innovative and robust processing solutions, as well as coordinate tool builds and validation at both internal and external sites. They will also be expected to assist in quality system compliance and regulatory filings with the FDA and other agencies outside the United States.
Job Responsibility:
Learn and Conduct on the press scientific molding studies consisting of: Mold balance studies, rheology studies, gate freeze studies, cool time studies, pack pressure studies etc.
DOE’s for melt and mold temp, packing pressure and cooling time
Machine linearity studies
Dynamic check ring studies
Learn and conduct with senior engineering guidance
Gage design, design reviews MSA
First Article inspection
Injection mold design review
Data analysis
Process troubleshooting-mold and press
Creating part inspection documentation in Excel and Solid Works
Creating mold validation and FAT protocols
Updating drawings and solid models
Creating mold transfer documentation packages
Tolerance stack up analysis
Making steel decisions and mold modification decisions
Providing design engineering assistance to project teams
Learn and assist with mold validation, change request, and capital documentation.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Nice to have:
0-2 years of experience including Co-op/internship or other engineering work during college
Knowledge of plastic processing preferred, but not required
Proficiency in the creation of solid models and drawings with Solid Works
Working knowledge of Microsoft applications - Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
