Job Description:

We are looking for a Module Lead to join us on a Contract/freelance basis. The Module Lead is responsible for the design, development and delivery of high-quality Level 5–6 materials science modules. This includes creating engaging digital content, developing teaching materials, and delivering effective teaching sessions. The role will initially focus on Metallurgy (L5), Application of Construction Materials (L6), and Nanomaterials (L6), with scope to contribute to a broader materials science curriculum over time.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design and develop coherent, high-quality module content aligned to Level 5–6 standards
  • Create engaging digital learning materials and resources for blended delivery
  • Plan and deliver effective teaching sessions that support deep understanding and application
  • Develop and implement appropriate assessment strategies and provide meaningful feedback
  • Ensure all content meets internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements
  • Continuously review and improve modules based on learner feedback, performance data, and industry developments
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. delivery, quality, instructional design) to ensure consistency and quality
  • Maintain subject currency and integrate relevant industry practices and innovations into teaching

Requirements:

  • Advanced understanding of materials science principles and their application
  • Specialist knowledge in areas such as metallurgy, construction materials, and/or nanomaterials
  • Understanding of Level 5–6 academic standards and assessment design
  • Knowledge of digital and blended learning design principles
  • Awareness of current industry practices and emerging trends
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Postgraduate qualification desirable
  • Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
  • Experience in materials science or a related technical field
