Job Description

Based in Bermuda, the Modeling Actuary is a key member of the actuarial team reporting to the Chief Actuary. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining actuarial models supporting the liability valuation and reserving process under the Bermuda EBS framework and US GAAP, and the evaluation of new reinsurance transactions.

Job Responsibility

  • Developing and maintaining actuarial models supporting the liability valuation and reserving process under the Bermuda EBS framework and US GAAP, and the evaluation of new reinsurance transactions
  • Assist with preparation of reports covering US GAAP, US tax, Bermuda Statutory Financial Statements, Bermuda Economic Balance Sheet, and Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement
  • Provide additional actuarial support for the Company’s Investment, Risk, and ALM functions
  • Support the Company’s multi-year financial planning process
  • Ensure an accurate transition and smooth integration of pricing models into the Company’s corporate model framework
  • Other actuarial support as appropriate

Requirements

  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
  • 10+ years of life and annuity insurance and/or reinsurance experience
  • Familiar with US life and annuity product designs and features
  • Experienced MG-ALFA user with a comprehensive actuarial modeling skillset
  • Strong US GAAP and Bermuda solvency framework experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage workload with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to be a team player, assisting where needed across various corporate functions to achieve operational goals

Nice to have

  • Asset-liability risk management experience
  • Investment knowledge relevant to life reinsurance
  • Life and annuity product pricing experience
