To plan, organize, and implement world-class educational programs in a P-12 laboratory school environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, and helps the school and University meet established goals. To ensure that each student will grow to his/her greatest intellectual ability, emotional development and psychological well-being. Additionally, the teacher will mentor and instruct university students working and observing at Model for experiential learning assignments.
Job Responsibility:
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the times designated
Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning
Prepares for classes assigned
Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
Guides the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media
Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis
Takes precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Maintains accurate records
Assists in implementing policies and rules
Plans and supervises assignments for volunteers and substitute teachers
Attends staff meetings and participates on committees
Follows all University and Model Lab policies
Responsible for cooperation with students, parents, staff, and community
Cooperates with investigations
Available for parent conferences
Participates in graduation exercises
Knows and remains updated regarding early childhood teaching laws
Maintains regular attendance
Demonstrates progress in teaching, scholarship and service
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Kentucky Educational Professional Standards Board certification for teaching early childhood/preschool students
