Model Lab School Teacher - To plan, organize, and implement world-class educational programs in a P-12 laboratory school environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, and helps the school and University meet established goals. To ensure that each student will grow to his/her greatest intellectual ability, emotional development and psychological well-being. Additionally, the teacher will mentor and instruct university students working and observing at Model for experiential learning assignments.
Job Responsibility
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the location and at the times designated
Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request
Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
Guide the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media
Strive to implement the Laboratory School philosophy of education and instructional goals
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required
Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct
Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for volunteers and substitute teachers
Strive to maintain and improve professional competence
Attend staff meetings and participate on School and University committees
Maintain regular attendance
Follow all University policies, procedures and Institutional Review Board guidelines
Cooperate with students, professional associates, parents, staff, community groups, and University faculty, staff and administration
Cooperate fully with all investigations
Be responsive and available for parent conferences
Participate in the School’s graduation exercises, include wearing appropriate academic regalia
Demonstrate progress in teaching, scholarship and service
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Kentucky elementary teacher certification through the Education Professional Standards Board
