Model Lab School Elementary Teacher

• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the location and at the times designated
• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
• Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
• Guide the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media
• Strive to implement the Laboratory School philosophy of education and instructional goals
• Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required
• Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct
• Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for volunteers and substitute teachers
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence
• Attend staff meetings and participate on School and University committees
• Maintain regular attendance
• Follow all University policies, procedures and Institutional Review Board guidelines
• Cooperate with students, professional associates, parents, staff, community groups, and University faculty, staff and administration
• Cooperate fully with all investigations
• Be responsive and available for parent conferences
• Participate in the School’s graduation exercises, include wearing appropriate academic regalia
• Demonstrate progress in teaching, scholarship and service
• Perform other duties as assigned
