Job Description:

Uber's Consumer, Marketing & Commercial Legal team is looking for an exceptional lawyer to work on Mobility issues for riders and drivers. This is a critical role responsible for counseling product legal, marketing and operation teams on new products, exciting marketing initiatives, complex consumer protection issues, and innovative campaigns across all our products, platforms, offers, and services.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide comprehensive legal support across a wide range of marketing and consumer protection matters related to Uber's mobility line of business (which includes rideshare, fleets, rentals, and rider and driver issues)
  • Advise the Marketing, Performance Marketing, Communications, and Policy teams on complex consumer protection issues and cutting edge marketing initiatives. This might include counseling on FTC Act Section 5, state UDAPs, promotions, offers, subscriptions, payments, earnings, and pricing
  • Share subject matter expertise with product legal teams and marketing teams on new products and campaigns specifically impacting Mobility
  • Draft, review, and negotiate marketing and media contracts
  • Work closely with teams globally throughout Uber, including Legal, Marketing, Research, Ops, Policy, and Comms, to ensure key decision makers are apprised of risk and understand their options
  • Monitor legal developments in the Mobility Marketing space and advise the business, continually seeking ways to innovate and work more efficiently and effectively
  • Help coordinate global review of content for consumer protection issues

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in consumer protection law and/or marketing law
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state

Nice to have:

  • Proven ability to think outside the box and offer creative solutions to complex problems
  • Experience with national advertising campaigns across various mediums
  • Deep understanding of U.S. federal and state consumer protection and marketing laws
  • Basic understanding of Privacy laws
