Job Description:

The Mobile Money Specialist is an Engineer with technical skills who can work into Digital and IT Department to support MPESA Core, MPESA Portals and Payment Gateway applications. In this role as a Mobile Money Specialist, you will be working with the latest technologies to design, build, optimize, and maintain Mobile Money Centric solutions. You will work as a Mobile Money System owner and will serve as a Subject Matter Expert for technical payment gateway integrations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform the Daily Health Check related to MPESA and Payment Gateway Applications
  • Oversee availability of the functionalities used by internal users and external users in their day-to-day job on MPESA Core, MPESA Portals and Payment Gateway application at an agreed service level agreement and (SLA) and quality of service (QOS)
  • Oversee availability of the functionalities used by customers/subscribers on MPESA Core, MPESA Portals and Payment Gateway applications at an agreed service level agreement and (SLA) and quality of service (QOS)
  • Support any request (service request, ad hoc report, etc.) on the MPESA Core, MPESA Portals and Payment Gateway applications
  • Report on the incident/problem happening into MPESA Core, MPESA Portals and Payment Gateway applications with inputs from initial analysis, symptoms
  • Monitor continuously and track technical issues related to MPESA Core, MPESA Portals and Payment Gateway applications
  • Establish and maintain integration standards, issuance, and maintenance of API keys, monitoring data flows, facilitating Mobile Money related projects and release management
  • Understand the impact of system changes across the platform, streamline quality assurance and establish accountability
  • Drive initiative delivery from inception to launch with the internal and third-party integration teams
  • Participate in project planning and develop technical assessment document by proposing the solution to implement, how it will be done and identifying the risks and dependencies
  • Validate Functional specifications driving project implementation related to MPESA Core, MPESA Portals and Payment Gateway applications
  • Make assets inventory, in terms of count of servers, operating systems servers are running, servers’ roles/functionalities, locations, hostnames, IP address ranges for MPESA Core, MPESA Portals and Payment Gateway applications
  • Follow up the backup activities related to MPESA Core, MPESA Portals and Payment Gateway applications
  • Be responsible for engaging as a main single point of contact (SPOC) with the BIT infrastructure team for support related to infrastructure
  • Be responsible for engaging as main SPOC with peers, for provision of integrations functions with his own systems at an agreed SLA and QOS

Requirements:

  • Engineering IT /Computer Science degree
  • 1+ years of software development and working directly with engineering teams experience
  • Being fluent in English, both written and verbal

Nice to have:

  • Software Engineering degree
  • 2+ years of integration and API development experience
  • 2+ years of working directly on Payment Gateway
  • Experience in designing and implementing scalable and robust system architectures
