Join us as a Mobile Application Developer at Barclays where you'll spearhead the evolution of our digital landscape, driving innovation and excellence. As a part of the team, you will deliver technology stack, using strong analytical and problem solving skills to understand the business requirements and deliver quality solutions. You'll be working on complex technical problems that will involve detailed analytical skills and analysis. This will be done in conjunction with fellow engineers, business analysts and business stakeholders.

Job Responsibility:

Design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues
Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools
Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance
Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives
Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing
Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth
Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions
Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability

Requirements:

Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes
Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
Develop clean, testable code using modern Android development standards
Understanding of mobile UI/UX principles and responsive design
Should have strong hands‑on experience with Compose
Solid understanding of Android SDK, app lifecycle, UI components, and material design principles
Hands‑on experience with unit testing and UI testing frameworks
Proficiency with Git version control and CI/CD pipelines
Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React fundamentals will be an added advantage
Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments

Nice to have:

Experience working in large‑scale digital or mobile banking platforms
Exposure to performance optimisation, memory management, and accessibility on Android
Experience collaborating with iOS and cross‑platform teams
Knowledge of DevOps practices, monitoring, and observability tools
Exposure to secure mobile application development in regulated environments
Experience of REST API development
