The MMA Coordinator will deliver MMA skills training, of all types to the Shanghai Performance Institute Academy fighters, as well as contracted UFC fighters and world-class athletes from other sports. This role works with the MMA coaching staff to develop an inclusive overall MMA curriculum and will work with UFCPI interdisciplinary staff to ensure optimal delivery of services to athletes.
Job Responsibility:
Facilitate MMA practices for all fight styles and disciplines
This role may be requested to specialize their coaching activities in a particular area of MMA (e.g., striking, grappling, wrestling)
Contribute to delivering a comprehensive MMA curriculum to UFC Performance Institute academy athletes, as well as other UFC fighters and athletes
Deliver individual and group-based coaching to world-class MMA fighters and athletes
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to identify best practices for delivering MMA training sessions
Work with Chinese coaches and translators to ensure athletes are fully engaged and understanding of training principles, technical and tactical requirements, and expectations relating to performance standards
Hold pads for athletes and participate in technical drills with athletes of all sizes and backgrounds
As required, provide corner support to UFC Academy athletes in MMA competition
Oversee the delivery of clinics and seminars within the UFC Performance Institute, and travels to outside MMA gyms to deliver clinics and seminars as needed
Delivers an MMA curriculum to UFC Performance Institute academy class, as well as other UFC fighters and athletes
Work with non-UFC or Academy athletes in an appropriate capacity as required
Contribute to the development and delivery of UFCPI educational, certification, and learning materials
Contribute to additional tasks, projects, and responsibilities relating to the success and ongoing development of the UFCPI Mexico and the global UFCPI infrastructure
Requirements:
At least three years experience coaching mixed martial art with athletes that compete professionally in MMA or other combat sports
Experience in providing corner support in a combat sports or MMA competitions
Must be skilled in at least one mixed martial art, with a holistic knowledge of multiple martial arts
Ability to integrate individual martial arts into an overall MMA program
Experience working effectively with athletes and coaches
Must have familiarity with the sport of MMA, including official rules, network of athletes and coaches, reputable gyms, and the overall culture of the sport
Must have the ability to travel 10% of the time
Must have good communication skills
Nice to have:
Experience competing in professional fighting, combat sports, or having MMA experience is preferred
Professional combat sports experience is considered beneficial
