Job Description:

Mixed tax roles are hard to come by these days. Most firms want to pigeonhole you - corporate or private client, pick a lane, and stay in it. Not this firm. This team believes technical range is a strength, not a compromise. They're actively looking for a Mixed Tax Assistant Manager who enjoys working across both personal and corporate tax, and wants to keep developing that range with full support from senior leadership. The portfolio is genuinely diverse: owner-managed businesses, directors, HNWIs, trusts, and SMEs. You'll get involved in both compliance and advisory, with growing responsibility and a clear path to Manager. This isn't just a job - it's a development role. Designed for people who want more variety, more exposure, and more say in how their career evolves.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage and review a portfolio spanning personal and corporate tax clients
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients — not just back-office support
  • Review tax returns and assist on planning projects (CGT, IHT, restructuring, R&D, share schemes, etc.)
  • Work closely with managers and partners across the full tax spectrum
  • Support and mentor junior team members
  • Help spot opportunities, solve problems, and add value

Requirements:

  • ACA / ACCA / ATT / CTA qualified or near-qualified
  • Solid compliance experience across personal and corporate tax
  • Exposure to advisory work — or a clear desire to get more involved
  • Strong communication and review skills
  • Someone who wants to stay mixed — and be trusted to grow
What we offer:
  • Hybrid working and a healthy team culture
  • Competitive salary and full support with qualifications (if needed)
  • A real mixed tax portfolio — no narrowing, no push to specialise
  • Clear route to Manager and long-term progression
  • Varied advisory work and direct partner access
