Mine Planning Engineer responsible for ensuring plans are operationally viable and aligned with company objectives. Oversees issuance and execution of all short-term plans, monitors compliance, identifies deviations, and implements mitigation plans for the McIlvenna Bay project.
Job Responsibility:
Demonstrate commitment to health, safety, environment, and teamwork
Develop and maintain medium-term (3–12 month) mine schedules aligned with budget and production targets
Develop and coordinate short-term and weekly mine plans (7+21), ensuring alignment with medium- and long-term plans
Monitor plan compliance, identify deviations, and implement mitigation actions
Maintain mine models, designs, and technical databases using mining software
Coordinate drill and blast and development designs to support planned activities
Ensure drill and blast designs support safe execution, maximize recovery, and minimize dilution
Work closely with survey to ensure accurate underground execution of designs
Identify and communicate operational risks, constraints, and optimization opportunities
Support QAQC activities related to drilling, blasting, and mining
Coordinate with Operations and Technical Services to deliver integrated schedules
Ensure backfill activities are planned and executed in line with backfill strategy
Maintain and manage stope reconciliation programs
Support auxiliary planning including ventilation, ground control, and services
Develop SOPs and engineering best practices as required
Complete trade-off studies to support operational and technical decisions
Promote safe and efficient production through sound engineering practices
Supervise, train, and mentor engineers and technicians
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mining Engineering Technology, or related
5+ years of underground hard rock mining experience
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Saskatchewan or eligible with APEGS
Strong understanding of underground mining methods, drill and blast, and backfill
Proficient in Microsoft 365
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Nice to have:
Experience with Deswik (Sched, DB, CAD, IS) is an asset
