Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Mine Controller at our Coppabella Moorvale Joint Venture (CMJV) – Coppabella Mine. Our CMJV mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometers southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverized coal (LV-PCI) for export markets. As a Mine Controller, you will be at the center of our operations, coordinating real-time load and haul activities to maximise fleet utilisation and keep production on target. This role is critical in ensuring mining operations are safe, efficient, and compliant with continuous monitoring of fleet performance against operational priorities and the site’s Safety and Health Management System (SHMS). This position is offered on a 7 days on 7 days off roster, giving you the ideal balance of work and lifestyle. Choose from DIDO or FIFO options.

Job Responsibility:

  • Operate and monitor real-time systems (FMS Hexagon MineOPs, SCADA, GroundProbe)
  • Oversee production activities across excavators, trucks (load and haul cycles), and dozers
  • Monitor equipment health and respond swiftly to alerts or faults
  • Support incident response and follow emergency protocols
  • Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Tech Services, and CHPP teams
  • Manage shift handovers, set priorities, and maintain clear communication
  • Build strong working relationships with Supervisors and Production Coordinators
  • Record and report production data, equipment usage, and downtime
  • Produce accurate shift and performance reports
  • Maintain and update mine control systems with critical data
  • Act as first point of contact in emergencies, escalating to ERT when required

Requirements:

  • Generic Coal (Surface) Induction (S11)
  • Experience with emergency response protocols and incident management
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in open cut mining operations and safety procedures
  • Proven ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Strong multitasking skills with excellent communication
  • Familiarity with mine control systems (MineOPs, Modular, MineStar, Wenco)
  • Intermediate computer skills and a genuine interest in technology and innovation
