Job Description:

Sopra Steria seeks a Middleware Systems Senior Technical Lead to provide Level 3 support for WebSphere Application Server environments, including installation, configuration, tuning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. The role involves overseeing middleware architecture, automation scripting, and collaborating with development teams on CI/CD integration. Candidates must have strong middleware expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and effective communication abilities. Preferred qualifications include cloud platform experience, DevOps knowledge, and relevant certifications.

Job Responsibility:

Set up and configure WebSphere Application Server instances across development, testing, and production environments
Provide Level 3 support for WebSphere Application Server environments, including installation, configuration, tuning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
Diagnose and resolve complex issues impacting application availability and performance
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent solutions to prevent recurrence
Develop scripts (Shell scripting, Python, Ansible) for routine operational tasks, automation and deployment processes
Collaborate with development teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines for WebSphere applications
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
Monitor system performance, analyze metrics, and implement tuning strategies to optimize WebSphere Application Server performance
Conduct capacity planning and ensure scalability of WebSphere environments
Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, architects, and operations teams
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior team members

Requirements:

Strong understanding of middleware architecture, deployment patterns, and best practices
Set up and configure WebSphere Application Server instances across development, testing, and production environments
Provide Level 3 support for WebSphere Application Server environments, including installation, configuration, tuning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
Experience in implementation project with providing consulting to manage the Middleware stack for complex architecture
Diagnose and resolve complex issues impacting application availability and performance
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent solutions to prevent recurrence
Develop scripts (Shell scripting, Python, Ansible) for routine operational tasks, automation and deployment processes
Collaborate with development teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines for WebSphere applications
Implement security best practices and configurations for WebSphere Application Server environments
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
Generate performance reports, incident reports, and contribute to knowledge base articles
Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, architects, and operations teams
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior team members
Incident, Problem, Request & Change management following ITIL guidelines
Set up and manage monitoring through tools like Dynatrace, Appdynamics, Splunk etc.
Monitor system performance, analyze metrics, and implement tuning strategies to optimize WebSphere Application Server performance
Conduct capacity planning and ensure scalability of WebSphere environments
Participate in on-call rotation and provide 24x7 support for critical production issues as required
Proven experience as a WebSphere Administrator with Level 3 support responsibilities
Expertise in installation, configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting of WebSphere Application Server in enterprise environments
Knowledge of working in both Windows and Linux environments
Proficiency in scripting languages for automation (Shell scripting, Python, Ansible)
Knowledge of performance monitoring tools and techniques for WebSphere Application Server
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to issue resolution
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams

Nice to have:

Experience in working on application integration using WAS
Experience with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD pipelines, configuration management tools)
Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Familiarity with microservices architecture and modern application deployment patterns
Understanding of ITIL principles and best practices
Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified System Administrator - WebSphere Application Server, Oracle Certified Professional, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Microsoft AZURE Cloud certifications)
